Private Ranch, Taos, New Mexico

The owner of this private ranch in northern New Mexico wanted to renovate the existing lake to reduce seepage loss, improve aesthetics, and provide fishing opportunites. He also wanted to enhance trout fishing opportunities on the stream running through his property. The renovation of the lake included re-shaping the shorelines, increasing depth, installing a liner, and building a new boat dock. The river restoration included installation of several boulder structures to create favorable fish habitat and restore the natural channel. Overgrown vegetation on the banks of the river was trimmed or removed to provide fishing opportunites for the owner and his family. The lake and river were stocked with rainbow trout upon completion of construction activities.
