Lagoon Design
Carara Bay Resort is located on nearly 100 acres of Costa Rica’s Pacific coast. The master planned resort includes a resort hotel, residential units, clubhouse, restaurants, a retail village, swimming pools, and a complex of eight freshwater lagoons interconnected by streams and waterfalls.
ACI teamed with the internationally renowned land planning firm of Gage Davis Associates to provide design development of each of the eight lagoons, the water features, and the water conveyance systems. Due to weather extremes experienced in central Costa Rica, special considerations were made to ensure that the lagoons were able to receive clean, healthy water during both the dry and rainy seasons. Extensive mechanical systems were included in the design to circulate water throughout the lagoons, as well as provide ample flow to the various water features.
